Goal:
Retain a mining permit

Barrier:

Lack of in-house project management expertise

Story:

An international bulk commodity mining company needed to further develop its mining tenements as per state legislation requirements. In order to retain their mining permit, an exploration and project framing exercise had to be undertaken. The client decided to use a “hybrid” Project team approach which would include their own geologists and mining engineers, but they also required project study management expertise in the team for both the concept and pre-feasibility studies.

With experts experienced in working in integrated client teams, the fit for our services was perfect and highly complementary to the charter.

msi‘s services included:

  • Appointed as the Client Advisory Project Management Consultants to oversee the progress of both the Concept and Pre-Feasibility Studies.
  • Implementation of our Capital Investment Framework.
  • Preparation of the Study Project execution planning and project services expertise.
  • Preparation and production of all Project reporting
Result:

Both the studies were completed on time and on budget. The mining company complied with government legislation and retained their possession of the tenement, and the provision of the PFS estimate was presented to the board of directors with all supporting data as per our capital investment framework.
